The Third in the WILD Mystery Series by Award Winning Author Sandi Ault

Sandi Ault impressed critics and readers alike when she launched the WILD Mystery Series with Wild Indigo, a richly imagined mystery set in Northern New Mexico. The first-ever debut novel to be nominated for the special Edgar, the Mary Higgins Clark Award, it also become the first debut to win the honored prize. The New York Times Book Review raved, calling Wild Indigo a “striking debut” with “thrills galore.” Ault’s highly anticipated follow-up, Wild Inferno, again featured rough and ready Bureau of Land Management agent Jamaica Wild and her memorable pet wolf, Mountain.

Publishers Weekly named Wild Inferno one of the Best Books of 2008, and the book also captured two starred reviews (Publishers Weekly and Library Journal) as its predecessor did, furthering Ault’s critical acclaim.

Now, author Sandi Ault brings us her third WILD Mystery, WILD SORROW, which promises to be her best yet.

While tracking a wounded mountain lion onto a desolate canyon rim, Jamaica and her wolf, Mountain, come across an old Indian School, a place where children were “Americanized” after being taken from their homes. As a snowstorm sweeps the canyon, Jamaica is forced to take refuge in the abandoned school.

As she explores her impromptu haven, Jamaica discovers the desecrated body of an elderly Anglo woman, frozen on the floor. This discovery, combined with the obviously troubled history of the abandoned school, haunts Jamaica throughout the night with the sorrowful howling of the icy wind.

After the storm, the FBI take over the murder investigation as Jamaica continues to search for the wounded she-lion and her cubs. As the dead of winter settles on the mesa, arctic temperatures threaten the survival of the mountain lions—and Jamaica herself, as she is stalked and terrorized by the unidentified killer…

A chilling, thrilling, and impassioned story steeped in the raw danger and lush wilderness of the West, this story is also a tender and loving portrait of the strength and beauty of Native American culture.
